THE MIKADO

(Musical | Comedy)
[1 hour 30 minutes]

In a mythical Japan, Ko-Ko, a cheap tailor, has been appointed
Lord High Executioner and must find someone to execute before
the arrival of the ruling Mikado. He lights upon Nanki-Poo, a
strolling minstrel who loves the beautiful Yum-Yum. But
Yum-Yum is also loved by Ko-Ko, and Nanki-Poo, seeing no hope
for his love, considers suicide. Ko-Ko offers to solve both
their problems by executing Nanki-Poo, and an agreement is
reached whereby Ko-Ko will allow Nanki-Poo to marry Yum-Yum
for one month, at the end of which Nanki-Poo will be executed,
in time for the arrival of the Mikado. But what Ko-Ko doesn't
know is that Nanki-Poo is the son of the Mikado and has run
away to avoid a betrothal to an old harridan named Katisha.
The arrival of the Mikado brings all the threads of the
tale together.

Professor Hardwick teaches at Winfield College and detests
the new swing music that is the craze. He has written a
rhapsody which he takes to New York to be published. Staying
with his Aunt Martha, he is surrounded by swing and after a
few drinks, he is photographed hanging on the chandelier. He
finds that he can only sell his rhapsody to Eddie and
Miss McKay puts lyrics to it. It is a big swing sensation and
the partnership of Hardwick and McKay crank out the hits
until Zelda breaks up the team. Zelda wants to sing the hot
songs and have Hudson, the Home of the Hits,
publish the music.

The Wizard of Oz
THE WIZARD OF OZ

(Adventure | Family | Fantasy | Musical)
[1 hour 42 minutes]

When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto,
are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz.
They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to
meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow that needs
a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who
wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom
of the Wicked Witch of the West to earn his help.

(Biography | Comedy | Music)
[1 hour 34 minutes]

A penniless song writer, Larry Earl, is convinced he is going
places in shown business, and convinces Mary, an assistant at
an orphanage, to marry him. Fifteen months later they are still
in love, but broke as Larry writes songs that won't sell and
loses one job after another one. He stops to watch a group of
newsboys singing and dancing, and decides to organize them
into the greatest kid act to ever hit vaudeville. Mary persuades
Proctor, a big theatrical manager, to book the act, and they are
a big hit. Then Larry and his publicity agent, "Speed" King,
launch a big publicity stunt---a talent train in which they
travel across country holding auditions for young performers.
Back in New York, Carlotta Salvini, an ex-Opera singer, brings
in her talented fourteen-year-old-daughter, Jane, who has an
amazing voice. Larry, to get the mother out of the way, offers
Carlotta a forty-week vaudeville tour, and then goes to work
to make a star out of Jane, by building Broadway's
first all-kiddie ...

Babes In Arms
BABES IN ARMS

(Comedy | Musical)
[1 hour 34 minutes]

Mickey Moran, a talented singer and musician, is son of a
veteran from show business. Mickey has a partner,
Patsy Barton, a pretty girl and also a very talented singer.
One day, a big opportunity arrives for Mickey, a big contract
to set up his own show. However, things don't go well, and in
order to avoid being sent to a work farm, he'll improvise a
show in the country, despite the awful weather conditions.
Patsy's in love with Mickey, he loves her, too, but for him
the show must go on, and his big dream maybe will come true:
to formally stage his play in a big scenario, with a

BALALAIKA

(Musical | Romance)
[1 hour 42 minutes]

Prince Peter Karagin, an officer in the Cossack army, sees
and hears lovely Lydia Marakova in the cafe Balalaika in
St. Petersburg and wants to meet her. When he hears she
likes to fraternize with a lower class of people, he gives
a student 50 rubles for his clothing. She eventually accepts
his persistant presence and they fall in love. Peter uses
his influence to get Lydia an audition at the opera house,
where she is hired and is scheduled to perform later.
The Prince, however, is not aware that she, her father and
brother are part of a revolutionary movement. Their mutual
deception is quickly shattered when Peter and the Cossacks
violently break up a revolutionary rally in the public square,
where Lydia's brother is killed. Soon afterwards, she learns
that the rebels plan to assassinate Peter and his uncle,
General Karagin, at the opera house on opening night, and
still in love, she warns Peter not to go to the performance.
He cancels the reservations, but General Karagin decides to...

The Lambeth Walk
THE LAMBETH WALK

(Comedy)
[1 hour 24 minutes]

When Bill Snibson, a Lambeth cockney, discovers that he
is a descendant from the Earl of Hareford and that he will
now be residing in a Mayfair mansion with a bunch of
snobbish relatives, he still holds to her plain girlfriend
Sally Smith and his Lambeth roots, even if that means
facing his terrible aristocratic aunt. And maybe the simple
chaps can teach the rich how to get some fun :
"Once you get down Lambeth way - Every evening, every day -
You'll find yourself - Doin' the Lambeth walk".

Adapted from the highly successful West End musical which
also became an early TV broadcast.
